First Day of School

Michael and I started school on Tuesday. It was a great day! Michael did very well in the nursery and I did very well staying away. :) I'm excited about teaching again and happy that Michael has some time to play with other kids. He's also right downstairs with other mommies, so I feel very comfortable leaving him (well, as good as I can while actually leaving him). Katie took our first day pictures, so here we are!

Baby Shower

Anne`, Laura Beth, and Katie had a baby shower for us yesterday. It was so wonderful! We got lots of beautiful clothes for Meredith. Katie took lots of pictures (that I'll get on Tuesday), but here is one of the cake. It's not the best one, but I'll post more on Wednesday!

Haircut

Michael had his second haircut this past Monday. He was very good while Anne` was buzzing off all his hair. He was a little concerned, but Mommy said it was okay, so he sat still. :)

Big Boy Bed Update

I would like to announce that we have successfully made the transition to the big boy bed! Yay! And it's much earlier than I had even hoped it would happen. :) Michael is so funny... we put him down in his bed and he will NOT get out of it. He will flop around and cry until he falls asleep (unless he's really tired, then he's just out!). When he wakes up he crawls onto his pillow and leans against the headboard crying until someone gets him. The only way he'll get out of his bed is if you leave the door open; I think he knows that even if he gets out of bed, he still can't open the door by himself. This weekend Chris and I are going to move the crib out of his room - that's going to be a pain since it has to be almost completely disassembled to fit out of the door. Yuck :(
I am so proud of Michael (in case you couldn't tell). Next is potty training... he already is pleased with himself when he pees on the floor. Haha (not!). Seriously though, he brings me diapers and wipes when he needs to be changed, which certainly can't be a bad sign!

Blueberry Happiness

So yesterday we went to a blueberry farm to pick blueberries. None of us had ever done that, so we figured it would at least be interesting. I had no idea how much Michael would enjoy it though! He was so good... no running off or anything. He just wandered around us, picking blueberries off the bushes or grabbing handfuls out of our buckets. The look on his face when he realized that you could eat the berries was priceless! He thought he must have stumbled across a baby paradise. :)

Big Boy Bed

Well, I think we've made the transition. Michael has been pointing at his big boy bed for a few weeks now, but I've been way too tired to push the issue until a few days ago. So he's tried his bed for one nap a day for 2 days. Then yesterday he took both naps in the big bed. Chris and I decided to try out night-time last night... it was a huge success!

Michael gets in his bed, cries for a few minutes to see if anyone will come get him, then talks to himself for 5 - 20 minutes until he falls asleep. I think we'll leave the crib in the room for a few more days just in case, but I really think we're done with it!

I'm very excited, especially since I wasn't really planning on pushing the big bed for a few more months, but I'm also kind of sad. Michael looks like such a big boy in his bed! I'm not sure I'm ready for him to get big yet. ;) But I guess he has to grow up sometime!
